Kaash..!!

Kaash aisa koi manzar hotaa
Mere kaandhe pe teraa sar hotaa

Jamaa kartaa jo me aaye huay sang
Ser chupaane ke liye ghar hotaa

Is bulandi pe bahot tanhaa hoon
Kaash mein sab ke barabar hotaa

Usne uljhaa diya duniyaa mein mujhe
Warna ek aur kalandar hotaa..!!

The lyrics of this song by Hariharan speak for themselves. Anything added by me would definitely deteriorate the quality of this post. Just one more thing. Appul strongly recommends you listen to this song. Here is an online resource.

Matrubhoomi: A Nation without women

Remember Chandni Bar? That was one of those movies which made my head ache. Completely aware of the fact that what I am watching is a work of fiction, I couldnt help but feel for poor Tabu. The end of movie left my mind swirming with myriad thoughts and a very bad mood. Matrubhoomi belongs to that genre of movies. You cant help but feel for poor Tulip Joshi, who by the way does a fantabulous job as the only female. The female foeticide issue forms the basis of the story, only that it is a bit exaggerated in this case. A bunch of villages is left with no females at all and the men go desperate to the hilt. The nightmarish plot of the movie would peacefully qualify as a horror story, giving RGV's Darna Zaroori Hai a run for its money. If you havent seen the movie as yet, its high time you put this in your to-do list.

In retrospect, I think the word "exaggerated" used above has been wrongly put there. Somehow, the movie left me with a feeling of deja-vu. Now I know why. There was a special report on NDTV 24*7 some two months back which was flashing a similar story. A village in Punjab that ran out of females of nubile age. So pathetic was the sex ratio in the areas nearby that the males in this region had to pay some sort of dowry for the few eligible girls present in the area while the others were forced to find tribal partners in regions as far as Assam.

Life comes full circle..true!!

Ishq Aur Husn

I have been thinking of putting up this post for a long time now. Not sure if any of the readers of this blog would be interested in the "bhoomika" I have to put up before putting up the two-piece. The first sher is the contribution of Nikhilesh Ghushe. So on one dully usual melancholic night during my stay at IIT-B, my senior, Ghushe, comes to my room and during the course of our conversation tells this sher to me. It goes like this:

Ishq ka zauk-e-nazaara muft mein badnaam hai,
Husn khud betaab hai jalwe dikhaane ke liye..!!

[zauk-e-nazaara : point of view]

Made a lot of sense to me. Made me think I am not the only one who thinks that way. The next day, I am with one of my good old lady friends and come up with this sher in front of her. This prompt reply of her's left me gawking.

Khuda jab husn deta hai,
nazaaqat aa hi jaati hai
Sambhaal sambhaal ke rakhte hain hum kadam,
kamar bal khaa hi jaati hai..!!

Introducing..

..Kriti who has joined the Shayari blogs bandwagon. Somehow, I always had the perception that Shayari is a male avocation but here's an 18 yr old girl penning some of the shayaris she likes. Pleasantly unusual..!! :)

Flabbergasted

Mera ikraar tere inkaar se behtar hoga
Mera din bhi teri raat se behtar hoga

Yakeen na aaye to dolee se jhaank ke dekhna
Mera janazaa teri baaraat se behtar hoga..!!

Bulk Email Marketing

Just came across this weird term and thought of asking about it from ya'll. "Bulk Email Marketing"..sounds bulky..eh!! Now that I have started writing, here's an account of my first foray into theatre watching. I went to Prithvi theatre for the first time yesterday and watched "The Open Couple". A nice comic play hovering around the male protagonist who's an MCP(Male Chauvinist Pig). If you are one of those people who are fed up with the quality of Bollywood releases and your liver declines any further alcohol intake, Prithvi Theatre@Juhu is a place to be. After that a plate of "Masala Pav" at Amar's and a coffee break at Barista, Versova. Good Fun!! ;)

No shayaris today, though.

Reverence at its romantic best

Roz taaron kee numaa-ish mein khalal padta hai
Chaand paagal hai andhere mein nikal padta hai

Unkee yaad aayee hai saanson zaraa aahista chalo
Dhadkano se bhi ibaadat mein khalal padta hai..!!
